And, unlike most larger Casinos, alcoholic beverages are not complimentary when playing - no big deal, but worth noting. It would be nice to have a less expensive full-meal option on those nights. The Casino crowd was very light on Tuesday evening, so we could understand why they could not open the buffet. If you stay and plan on leaving early the next morning, be sure to cash out the night before. One minor issue for us was the fact that the Casino did not open the next morning until 8:30 and we had an $80 ticket to cash out. Looked like there were several nice local eating establishments within about a five minute drive. If you eat there, you won't need but one order of fries for two people. As it was a Tuesday, the buffet was not open and we found the dinner menu at Bridges in the hotel a bit pricey for the appetite we had and were too tired to venture out to one of the nearby restaurants so we had an adequate hot dog in the Ace short order area in the Casino. No pool, but we rarely use a pool on a one-night stop. The rooms are nice and clean with all the amenities we needed for a stop over. The small town of Metropolis in only a few miles from the I-24 Exit and we found a delightful and friendly Midwestern town of about 6,500 awaiting us. We were pleasantly surprised and will stay again. We decided to try Harrah's for our stop-over from Alabama to the Chicago area rather than a traditional hotel/motel.
